The "duck-tastic" shop located at 805 Mamaroneck Ave., in Mamaroneck, is only the second in the state and is owned by Armonk residents David and Bonnie Foncello.
Bonnie Foncello, who grew up in Mamaroneck, is running the show and is ready "hopefully" for lines of people when the store opens at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 11, with hopes of offering lots of smiles and plenty of yummy noises.
Foncello said she knew Duck Donuts was the perfect fit for her after stepping into one in New Jersey.
"I understood the love for the brand after stepping inside," she said. "The Mamaroneck shop has a fun, family-friendly atmosphere that I hope fits right into the community."
Don't expect to walk in the door and point at a trayful of donuts because each donut made to order is a pillowy little bit of heaven with each bite.
That's what makes it so different, Foncello said.
The shop does offer a menu of some of their favorites, but they also hope customers will come up with wild combinations of their own.
"We have a duckzillion different toppings," she laughed.
And the toppings range from bacon, of course, to coconut, hot fudge, candies, and well, a duckzillion choices.
For the not so adventurous, there's also an egg and bacon sandwich donut, and lots of coffees to choose from.
Kids will find a viewing stand where they can watch their donut choice come to life and they can check out all the different little ducks.
In case, we haven't convinced you to check out Duck Donuts, the first and the 100th customers on Saturday will receive a bag full of duck swag.
The opening hours this weekend will run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday as well as Sunday, Jan. 12.
Regular hours will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday and Monday and from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
Donuts cost $2.25 each; a half dozen is $11.95 and a dozen runs $22.50.
